Wren
School Psychologist & Counselor
Hi! My name is Wren Knowles Schmidt and I am a counselor and school psychologist. Over the past 18+ years, I have been working with children and youth in a variety of educational and health settings. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Vermont in 2005. After moving to Berlin in 2006, I gained experience tutoring children with learning differences, teaching and leading teams in early childhood, as well as counseling children and youth coping with psychological disorders. I earned my master’s degree in Education from the University of Bath in 2017, while leading a team of early childhood educators. For my master’s thesis, I focused on bilingualism in education. I am passionate about language learning and better understanding multilingualism and multiculturalism.
I have worked with families and clients within in-patient and out-patient clinics and medical practices, conducting psycho-educational and behavioral assessments and practicing therapeutic interventions using cognitive behavioral therapy methods. My focus is on emotional regulation, mindfulness and building resilience through analytical self-reflection and supporting lasting positive behavioral changes. In addition, I enjoy helping children and teens find creative outlets that bring them joy and balance in their lives.
I come from the US and speak English and German. When not working and spending time with my family, I enjoy practicing yoga, attending life drawing classes, baking and reading.
