Laura
School Psychologist
Hi, I’m Laura! I’m a school psychologist from Colombia, currently living in the United States. I received my Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida. I have been working in the central Florida area for four years. She is part of the bilingual team, who work specifically with the bilingual student population, in addition to the rest of the student population. Being based in the district rather than a specific school, I have been able to work with students of all ages and needs. Prior to working as a school psychologist, I worked at a middle school for five years, supporting students that needed additional academic and emotional support. While in college, I participated in a service learning program in Costa Rica, a study abroad program in Peru, and taught English in the Dominican Republic.
I have made it a goal to learn from and work with students from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds to better serve them and their families. I am trained in a myriad of assessments and have vast experience working with families to understand evaluation results. Part of my daily work includes conducting psychoeducational assessments for various exceptionalities, making individualized recommendations, helping with IEP writing, and classroom interventions. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Laura received training and experience with telepractice in order to continue to serve students and families.
I specialize in psychoeducational evaluations, InD, ASD, gifted, and bilingual populations.
I’m from Columbia and I speak English and Spanish.
