Esther
School Psychologist
Hi! I’m Humeyra Esther, but you can call me Esther.I’m originally from Germany and have been living and working in the UK since 2003.
I’m an Educational and Child Psychologist with a Doctorate in Educational and Child Psychology from the University of East London. I’m a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and licensed to practice in the UK with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
In my role, I provide psycho-educational assessments, early mental health support, and consultation services to families and schools, supporting children and young people from birth to age 25. My work covers a wide range of needs, including developmental, learning, attention, behavioral, and emotional challenges.
I work across various settings, including public schools, private practice, and as a consultant to local education authorities. I’m also involved in supporting the evolving learning journeys of children and young people affected by brain injury over time, providing specialized assessments and expert advice in complex cases.
I have a particular interest in executive functions and how they relate to learning difficulties such as dyslexia and dyscalculia. I draw on positive psychology approaches to help identify and build on a child’s strengths while also finding ways to support areas of difficulty in practical and empowering ways.
I hold both German and Turkish citizenship and you can speak with me in English, German, or Turkish.
