Hi, I’m Denise! I am a certified school psychologist and counselor. I have a M.A. from California State University, Northridge in educational psychology and a M.S. from Lesley University in clinical mental health, specializing in dance and movement therapy (expressive arts). For the past 17 years I’ve had the pleasure of working with all grade levels completing educational-psychological assessments, guiding therapeutic sessions, and leading workshops. Since 2009 I’ve enjoyed a career in international schools including Serbia, Egypt, the Netherlands, and Thailand.
Over the years, I have worked with students who have a wide range of difficulties and/or diagnoses including learning disabilities, anxiety, ADHD, obsessive compulsive disorder, depression, Autism Spectrum Disorder, attachment disorders, bipolar disorder, self-injurious behaviors (SIB), and PTSD. Working internationally has also given me a significant amount of experience with the transition process for students, families, and staff. Early in my career I relied heavily on behavioral techniques, however, over the last 7 years I often integrate mindfulness, creativity (movement, art, drama), and body-centered approaches into therapeutic sessions. I often bring a bit of laughter/playfulness into my assessment/therapeutic sessions and hope that clients see our time as a balance of focused reflection on goals and fun.
I specialize in ed-psych assessments (including FBA), dance and movement therapy (expressive arts), mindfulness, therapeutic groups, parental/family support, and school consultation regarding student interventions, staff wellness and student support policy/structure.
I am from the United States and I speak English.
