Sarah
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Hello, I’m Sarah. I am from Australia, currently residing in Berlin. I hold a B.A. in Psychological Science and a M.A. in Social Work. I have worked with children, adolescents and their families in various settings, both in-person and online. My most recent position was supporting students at a live-in residential college in Melbourne.
My belief is that we can equip our young people with the necessary tools to respond to life’s psychological and emotional challenges, and in turn, we can create a more socially just and inclusive community, where everyone has the chance to reach their full potential.
Over the course of my career, I have worked with young people affected by a wide range of concerns, including those experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, worry and perfection, self-harm, suicidality and body image issues. I also support people who are experiencing difficulty with life transitions (grief/loss, relocation) and relationship and family issues.
I work from a person-centered approach as I understand that clients are the experts in their own lives and experiences. I believe everyone holds unique strengths and problem solving skills, and therefore, it is important to me that we can work collaboratively to set goals and find solutions.
Drawing upon a range of therapeutic frameworks, I tend to use a blended approach in sessions drawing from Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Narrative Therapy, to name a few.
I specialize in: anxiety/depression reduction, grief, self harm, body image, suicidality, transitions (grief/loss), and family issues.
