Renate
Counselor
Hi, I’m Renate! I hold a MA in psychology from Heidelberg University. I worked as a psychologist in various settings, supporting families in home visits, coaching unemployed young women, and working with young adults in residential care and an ambulatory psychotherapeutic setting. I believe in our capacity as human beings to live up to our fullest potential, discover our strengths and have access to them. If we begin to explore and understand who we really are and what motivates us, the energy and courage to follow our inner calling can arise and awaken our true selves.
I aim to provide a safe and supportive environment that encourages all students of all ages to explore their unique strengths and adapt to life’s challenges. These challenges can range from finding the motivation to study, dealing with exam stress and anxiety, or finding and maintaining healthy friendships. Everyone can find something they feel drawn to, and our talent and resourcefulness can show in many different ways. In addition, I can help with developing practical skills in preparing for exams, creating learning routines and managing stress.
I value close cooperation with parents and teachers and believe that creating an encouraging atmosphere in the school goes a long way in helping students find their way and thrive.I live and enjoy the richness of cultural diversity and believe that we can all learn from each other and refine our ability to look at life from different perspectives. I’m from Germany with Afro-Panamanian roots, and my love for different cultures has led me to live in France, China and the UAE.
I speak German, English, French, some Spanish and basic Mandarin.
