Lina
School & Wellness Counselor
Hi, I’m Lina, and I am a School and SEL/Wellness Counselor. I hold a BSc. in Psychology from the University of York, UK, a MA in Counseling Psychology from the University of Denver, CO, USA, and a Master of Advanced Studies in Health and Fitness from the Sport University of Salzburg, Austria. I have attended, as well as worked, at several International Schools as a High School Counselor, Wellness Coordinator, Mindfulness Instructor, Athletic Varsity Coach, and Suicide Awareness and Prevention Whole School Program Facilitator.Â
I am a Third Culture Kid (TCK) from Austria, and speak English, German, French, and a little Spanish and Dutch. I am currently living near my family in Vienna, Austria, with my Golden Retriever Josie (the therapy dog), after having lived in Kenya, Canada, Côte D’Ivoire, Austria, Morocco, UK, USA, Australia, Thailand, The Netherlands, and Chile.
As a TCK, I have experienced transitions as a student, athlete, and a professional across 6 continents and 13 countries, and I bring this unique background to every counseling and teaching moment. I have been coaching for over 20 years, counseling for the last 18, and am certified to teach mindfulness (including Mindfulness in Schools .b, Mindful Schools, and I‘m a certified Yoga Instructor) for the past 14 years.
To date I have taught mindful awareness in the realm of sports, education and mental health to over 1000 students and athletes and over 600 teachers, staff, and parents. I have a strong passion for professional development workshops for staff members at schools with regards to SEL (social emotional learning) specifically with regards to mental health and suicide prevention, as well as facilitating similar workshops for students and parents, so everyone in the school community is on the same page and using the same language.Â
